Tributo al escepticimo: El corazón de la Ciencia


Los chicos de Esceptiquísimo Mexico se tomaron el trabajo de compilar material multimedia de charlatanes de todo el planeta, en este emocionante video. Junto con imágenes y comentarios de grandes científicos y personajes de la divulgación, como Carl Sagan y otros actuales como Ben Goldacre, Neil Degrasse Tyson, PZ Meyers y Phil Plait.

Como explica al principio, el clip contiene material que puede resultar ofensivo para aquellos fundamentalistas cuyo sistema de creencias es inflexible, e intolerante hacia el pensamiento lógico y la ciencia.

Actualización: En el minuto 3:05 se ve al Maestro Kaiai Yanagiryuken que luchaba controlando el Chi de sus adversarios. Incluso ofrecía 5000 dólares a quien le ganara. Hasta que un luchador no-magufo aceptó la apuesta. Un video y otro de aquel increíble día.

    Es muy bueno.

    Recuerdo haber visto en Infinito (creo) un programa donde un maestro en artes marciales viajaba por el mundo conociendo diferentes tipos de lucha. No puedo asegurar que fuera el mismo Kaiai Yanagiryuke a quien van a ver en un capítulo, pero era la misma idea y el conductor del programa simplemente no podía contra él.

    :O // Fallos que tienen de vez en cuando canales de ese tipo.

    Y el niño predicador... "La mona y el mono... Hasta hoy tienen monitos..." "A mí creó... (Uno pensaría que ahora dice mi papá y mi mamá) Dios!!!"

    El video está muy bueno. Me atrevería a referirme tan solo a la imagen que se da de los sadus y yoguis de la India. En el video se muestran algunos de ello siendo “desmentidos” de sus timas, pero justamente allí está el error, tal como en todo el mundo existen personas que se hacen pasar por abogados, médicos, militares, etc. en la India (y en muchos otros países) existen personas que se hacen pasar por “auténticos” yoguis o gurus lo cual es un timo. Por ello, la imagen que se da en el video es similar a las que da el noticiero cuando descubren a alguien que ejerce una profesión sin haberse recibido.

    Las capacidades de los monjes budistas, de los yoguis y en general de los meditadores no es falsa. Primero que nada ellos no venden nada ni promocionan nada; han sido los occidentales quienes han importado y extraído sus técnicas desde oriente hacia occidente en donde se han popularizado. Los verdaderos practicantes de estas disciplinas religiosas obtienen capacidades físicas, cognitivas, psicológicas, y algunas otras que no han podido ser develadas por la ciencia actual, que no las poseen el común de los mortales. Uno de los científicos de reconocida solvencia que ha estudiado a los monjes a sido Herbert Benson de Harvard, quien, basándose en esos estudios publicó el best-seller The relaxation response y ha dado lugar a que muchos otros científicos se interesen por la meditación y técnicas alelas.

    Resumiendo, las imágenes del video no representan a los auténticos practicantes de las técnicas de meditación en sus diversas vertientes; los practicantes de estas técnicas desarrollan destrezas en diversos ámbitos como el físico, cognitivo, psicológico e inclusive capacidades “inexplicables” con la ciencia moderna; finalmente, se han estudiado los casos de estos personajes y se ha concluido que sus destrezas son ciertas.

    Bullshit!!!! Que yo sepa, comen igual que los demás, duermen igual que los demás y mueren igual que los demás, las habilidades que tienen, que vaya que son sorprendentes, no se desarrollan por arte de magia, son gracias al esfuerzo, el entrenamiento y la disiciplina.

    Ejemplos claros: Usain Bolt y Michael Phelps. ¿Acaso sus habilidades de casi super humanos son productos de la casualidad? NO, son gracias a un entrenamiento bárbaro con lo que han conseguido todos sus logros, ¿en que se diferencian estos atletas con los monjes antes mencionados? en Absolutamente NADA.

    Qué tal Unknown,

    Lastima que no he leído tu respuesta antes, pero ahora la comento. Primero te recomiendo leer bien mi comentario. En el no hablo de ningún tipo de magia, a lo que si me refiero es a “técnicas” y “practicas”. Es decir, tal como tú lo dices, estas capacidades de los religiosos de oriente no provienen de ningún lugar ni misterioso ni mágico. Ciertamente que las técnicas que ellos utilizan (algunas muy populares en occidente y antes desconocidas, llámense: meditación, mind fullness, awarness, etc.) provienen del estudio de tradiciones religiosas orientales.

    Te recomiendo que no tengas ceguera discrecional. Es decir no te cierres al conocimiento porque dentro de tu mente solo existe una forma de entender. Aquí no me refiero a que seas relativista, me refiero a que existe aun un camino por recorrer para el entendimiento entre ciencia y religión y no deberían considerarse a estas dos palabras un oxímoron. La psicología moderna (obviamente no la experimental, puesto que el experimento tal y como hoy lo conocemos es propio del positivismo) tiene sus raíces en la religión y las religiones no dejarán de ser objeto de estudio serio (al igual que de insulto infundado) solo porque a ti te venga en gana.

    Veo que eres extremista al igual que muchos religiosos. En definitiva no te diferencias en nada de ellos, salvo en la defensa de tus ideas (seguramente aquí querrás contratacar diciendo que tus ideas se basan en la ciencia y en la razón, pero eso no quitará que seas un extremista). Los atletas de elite ciertamente que son personas con amplias capacidades físicas y en algunos casos con solidez moral, etc. Sin embargo, controlar la fisiología del cuerpo (subir tu temperatura de golpe y evaporar agua de una manta, focalizar calor en una mano o extremidad para quemar un papel o permanecer horas si no días en meditación, tal como lo hacen los monjes y religiosos orientales, y algunos occidentales también) trasciende el entrenamiento de gimnasio y trasciende la capacidad de una persona común (no digo que la persona común, en esas circunstancias y con ese entrenamiento no lo puedan hacer) y no es comparable con un deportista.

    No digo más porque, como diría la sabiduría popular: la razón no pide fuerza. Antes de arremeter infórmate un poco sobre el estudio de tradiciones contemplativas por científicos (y filósofos si quieres porque el conocimiento no es únicamente factico sino también especulativo), entre ellos están Benson, Goleman, Ricard, etc. Te invito a ser menos radical y combatir argumentos con mejores argumentos no con analogías inadecuadas y vagas así como a ser tolerante con las ideas.

    muy bueno el video....deja en claro a miles de charlatanes alrededor del mundo.....ahora respecto al comentario de lucio...es cierto que pueden haber pracicantes serios de muchas tecnicas de meditacion avanzadas alrededor del mundo, y que estas personas realmente desarrollan habilidades "sobre humanas"....lo pongo entre comillas porque efectivamene pueden hacer cosas que nadie mas en el mundo puede....pero de todas formas no hay ningun documento de algun monje tibetano, gurú, u otro tenga alguna habilidad que viole principios físicos básicos (levitar sin ayuda...por ejemplo)o mover objetos con la mente....

    quizás algún monje pueda pasar 2 meses sin comer....pero de ahi a levitar es otra cosa........en el documental solo mostraron charlatanerías.....o si no sube tu algún video de levitación real...eso ni el dalai lama la hace....

    bueno....espero no haer ofendido a ndie y los dejo invitados a ver si me ayudan em mi blog a desenmascarar a los mas charlatanes de todos.....los fanaticos religiosos
